Flying to the Cheltenham Festival

March each year

Many operators are offering flights in to Cheltenham.  If you are going self-fly, note that prior permission is required as all flights must be recorded and all passengers need to be notified to the Racecourse for their Civil Aviation records. Details and link to forms are in Helipaddy.

Note: there are horses out in the field everyday so no low flying near the grandstand and stable areas.  The helipad is available on an ad hoc basis and can also be booked during the Cheltenham Festival and Open (landing fees differ).  Strictly PPR. For ad hoc landings, please give 24 hours notice (ask for Fergus).  All operators are required to produce an insurance indemnity in advance of landing. Avoid overflying the Grandstands, paddock, stables, Cheltenham town, Southam Village, Bishop's Cleeve and Prestbury
Gloucestershire Airport is 3 nm to the SW of the racecourse.  Jet A1 normally available when heliport is licensed (other times nil).  There are a few operators who will do helicopter shuttle flights, for example:

2016: A day return from London Battersea to Cheltenham in a AS355 Twin Squirrel helicopter, which seats up to five people, costs £3,800 + VAT.

From Manchester Barton in the same aircraft, price is £3,900 + VAT.

Travel in a six-seater Agusta 109 from Manchester Barton costs £4,900 + VAT.
