Build a Helipad: Introducing the Helipad Design Wizard
Scope helipad works before getting an initial quotation
Launching Q1 2026, the Build a Helipad wizard captures the minimum details needed to scope helipad works before getting an initial quotation. Try it at https://helipaddy.com/build-a-helipad.
Planning a helipad starts with clarity: what you are building, where it is, and how it will be used. With a dozen new private landing sites being added to Helipaddy each month, we are launching the Build a Helipad wizard to make that first step simple. It collects the minimum information needed to scope helipad works and prepare initial quotations, without forcing you to know every detail on day one.
Why we built it
We often see the same early questions slow projects down: site context, location, pad type, aircraft size, access, and planning status. The wizard organises those into a short, guided flow so you can give a clear brief in minutes. If you do not know an answer, you can skip it and move on.
What the wizard asks (and why it matters)
- Site basics: jurisdiction, location, and land control so we can align with local expectations.
- Pad type and size: ground, rooftop, or elevated, plus typical sizing based on the largest aircraft dimension (D).
- Operations and equipment: day or night use, lighting, windsock, and fire equipment expectations.
- Obstacles and approach: clear zone, obstacles, and approach directions that affect feasibility.
- Groundworks and access: earthworks, drainage, power, and vehicle access for construction.
- Planning/permissions: status and timeline to understand urgency and constraints.

You can also drop a map pin or paste GPS coordinates to anchor the site, and the wizard references our helicopter size guide when selecting the largest aircraft dimension: https://helipaddy.com/helicopter-sizes/

What happens next
Once you submit, we generate a concise summary suitable for an initial quotation. If we need to confirm anything, we will ask focused follow-up questions rather than starting over.
