Compatibility with Skydemon, Foreflight, Garmin Pilot

Aviation navigation map on tablet displaying flight route. Powered by Helipaddy for smooth travel planning.

You can export your landings and favourite pads to GPX format for use with SkyDemon, ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, and other compatible Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs).

You can manage your pads via the Helipaddy Pilot Profile.

Good news: you can store rich detailed site information on all of your private SkyDemon waypoints in Helipaddy! Then you can just export them to SkyDemon as you need, and not lose any data. If you use Garmin avionics too, then you only need to store a master copy of your waypoints in one place. See the video explainer here. We interface with SkyDemon in two ways:

1. Single destination plot

To plot your route to a Helipaddy pad in SkyDemon:

  • In the Helipaddy app, click on a pad and then click on the label that pops up in the bottom left corner to open the pad view.
  • In the pad view, click on the sharing symbol top right.
  • Select ‘Open in…’ and choose SkyDemon.

Your route from your current position is plotted in SkyDemon and the waypoint is labelled!

2. Import pads

To view Helipaddy pads as waypoints in SkyDemon:

This is not automated nor approved by SkyDemon but is an effective workaround for those that tend to use the iPhone, iPad, or Android for navigation.

  • Favourite a few sites in Helipaddy (view the site in the App by clicking on its label and click the star) or add a few private sites.
  • Log in to your Helipaddy Pilot Profile.
  • Scroll down to the Landings map or Favourite sites map.
  • Click the Export GPX button below the map – this will save a .gpx file to your device (e.g. helipaddy-landings-20231025.gpx).
  • Open SkyDemon desktop version.
  • Click on Waypoints in the toolbar, select Import and choose the GPX file (your existing SkyDemon waypoints are not overwritten).
  • Finally, Save to Cloud.

Your Helipaddy pads are now visible on all your SkyDemon devices!

3. Planning a trip in Helipaddy and then viewing in SkyDemon

Keep an eye on this space – soon you will be able to view your Helipaddy Trips as routes in SkyDemon!
